Airports

Oakland International Airport (OAK) is approximately twenty minutes away, where San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is around forty minutes away (best case). There is a bridge between SFO and the hotel, so the best case is probably less likely.

Transportation from/to airport:

RIDESHARE tool here. Login with the e-mail that you used for focs registration, with password being the part before the @ sign.

Rental Cars Renting a car (or having a friend do so) is suggested. The conference hotel is located at the Berkeley Marina and is a couple of miles from restaurants, etc. And there is ample parking at the hotel. There is a hotel shuttle for a five mile radius. At SFO, the rental car location is reachable by a convenient train. We will put up a rideshare tool, (much like our primitive roommate share tool) soon for those who would like to hitch/share rides.

From San Francisco Airport (SFO) Taxis are around 60-70 dollars depending on traffic. The airport shuttle, the Bayporter, is reasonably convenient, and costs $27 ($12 for each additional person, so it is worth trying to hook up with other FOCS attendees). The shuttle pickup is at courtyard 1 or 4 at arrival level, depending on which terminal you arrive at (call (877) 467-1800 for reservation, see also http://www.bayporter.com/info.htm). If you insist, you can take BART (www.bart.gov) to downtown Berkeley and catch a bus (www.actransit.org) or take a taxi to the hotel. It hardly seems worth the effort.

From Oakland Airport (OAK) Taxis are around 40-50 dollars. The airport shuttle, the Bayporter, is reasonably convenient, and costs $23 ($12 for each additional person, so it is worth trying to hook up with other FOCS attendees). The shuttle pickup is outside arrival across street on second island at shelter #4 (call (877) 467-1800 for reservation, see also http://www.bayporter.com/info.htm). See SFO info for BART.
